The Taskopen Imperial Dragon Ao Dai for Men is Taskopen’s flagship men’s traditional Vietnamese garment — the nam ao dai — a formal long coat worn with slim trousers that has been revived in contemporary Vietnamese culture for weddings, Tet ceremonies, and cultural occasions. Taskopen has designed the Imperial Dragon to honor the historical men’s ao dai tradition while incorporating the fit specifications and fabric performance that modern wearing demands. The outer coat is constructed from Taskopen’s ceremonial brocade silk — a woven jacquard fabric where the dragon and cloud motifs are inherent in the weave structure rather than printed or embroidered onto a plain base, giving the fabric a dimensional texture and formal authority appropriate to ceremonial occasions. Additional hand-embroidered dragon detailing in gold metallic thread runs along the center front placket, the mandarin collar band, and the hem edge, reinforcing the primary brocade pattern with a raised decorative layer. The mandarin collar is 40mm high and interfaced with woven interlining for a crisp, upright stand throughout the duration of a formal event. Seven fabric-covered buttons run down the center front placket with hand-stitched buttonholes. The coat hem falls to mid-calf, following the traditional proportion of the men’s ao dai.
