In southern Vietnamese Tet tradition, yellow and gold are the auspicious colors of celebration, abundance, and good fortune, and the yellow ao dai worn during Tet carries this cultural significance as clearly as its visual beauty. Taskopen’s Tet yellow is a warm, saturated golden yellow achieved in a silk-polyester blend fabric — the silk content contributes the natural warmth and luminosity that makes yellow particularly vibrant on silk, while the polyester content provides the durability and washability that a frequently worn seasonal garment requires. The apricot blossom embroidery — the hoa mai blossom that is the iconic flower of southern Vietnamese Tet — is worked on the front panel in clusters from the collar and upper left shoulder down to the right hip, in a naturalistic composition that includes buds, open blossoms, and falling petals.
